Christmas Fayre - Saturday, 9th December 2017

posted 14 Dec 2017, 09:31 by Graham Kay   [ updated 19 Dec 2017, 08:28 ]

Thanks to everyone who helped, attended or otherwise supported our Christmas Fayre.  It was a great success, with many getting the chance to meet Santa in his amazing grotto (photos below) and update him of their gift requirements for this year.  Lots of games were played, items purchased, food and drink consumed, prizes won & much festive entertainment enjoyed.

Thanks also to our sponsor, Michael Hardy Estate Agents, to our advertisers in the programme, and to those that contributed raffle prizes and other donations to the event.

We recorded a healthy profit of £3,793.79, taking our total festive earnings to an impressive £4,458.

Round Table Santa Sleigh - Saturday, 2nd December 2017

Sincere thanks to our friends at Wokingham West Round Table, who again brought the magic of Christmas to the streets around Oaklands Schools.  The festive tunes blasted down the ears of local residents brought many out to meet Santa and donate to Oaklands PTA - the looks of wonder and joy on their little faces made it all worthwhile ... and I think some of the kids enjoyed it too.  Boom!  Boom!

Thanks to everyone who turned out to collect donations.  Especially big thanks to the Cluzels for organising the evening and to John Nance for sitting on his backside and being unceasingly cheerful.  We collected £247 for the PTA - a great result!

Crowthorne Late Night Shopping - Friday 1st December 2017

posted 4 Dec 2017, 02:28 by Graham Kay   [ updated 6 Dec 2017, 09:23 ]

We had great fun joining the Crowthorne traders on the High Street with our eclectic offer of popcorn, Xmas Puds, light-up tat, putty, Lucky Lollies & prosecco.  Something for everyone there & business was brisk, netting us a fantastic profit of £417.

Well done & thanks to everyone who helped out & contributed to an excellent village event.  Special thanks to Newman's, who provided power for our popcorn machine, and to the Crowthorne Trader's Association for organising a very worthwhile evening & a great kick-off to the festive period.

Everyone seemed to have a lot of chocolatey fun, with the bingo-lingo in full flow, and the resplendence of new caller, Mr Boomer, rivalled only by the shiny new PTA uniforms.

A total of £630 was raised from the event - thanks to all involved!

Special thanks to all who donated eggs, including Waitrose (Sandhurst & Wokingham), Sainsbury's (Bracknell), Morrisons (Bracknell) and Tesco (Crowthorne, Camberley & Wokingham).

Thanks finally to the Crowthorne Royal British Legion for the use of their bingo machine.

Christmas Fayre 2016

Well you can't say "fundraising" without saying "fun", and generous helpings of both were evident at this year's Xmas Fayre.  Huge thanks to all the volunteers, who worked so hard to make this happen and to everyone who supported the event with donations of cakes & tombola/raffle prizes etc.  Thanks also, of course, to all those who turned up and generated so much early festive spirit.  Thanks again to Michael Hardy for sponsoring the event so generously, and to all the local organisations who advertised in the programme - if you do use any of the services advertised, please mention the PTA as this helps our partners know that their outlay has helped to raise their profile (and means they're more likely to advertise with us next time!).

Profits this year were a whopping £3,783, which is a fantastic sum.  Well done everyone!

There were a couple of add-on events - a stall at Crowthorne Traders Association's Late Night Shopping (£231 profit), and a tour of the streets around Oaklands with Santa, courtesy of our friends at Wokingham West Forest Round Table, during which we collected a creditable £187 - many thanks to the Tablers for this, which was tremendous fun for collectors and local residents alike.

Added to the Xmas Fayre profits, this takes our festive fundraising to over £4,200!  Merry Christmas!
